On May 5, 1944, we sailed from New Britain and arrived May 8 at Pavuvu in the Russell Islands. There we received replacements, regrouped and retrained for the Battle of Peleliu, I was promoted to corporal on July 10, 1944.
On September 4 we boarded LST 661 and sailed from Pavuvu to Guadalcanal, where we pulled maneuvers for about a week. Then we sailed for Peleliu. NEXT>>
